FAQs

What services do you offer?

1

NOWOS extends the life of lithium-ion batteries. We diagnose, maintain, and repair batteries so they can safely return to service in their first life, helping companies reduce costs, avoid waste, and comply with European battery regulations.

Note: NOWOS offers this service to businesses. We do not buy and sell batteries that we repair. The batteries we service are owned by our customers and are reused in the original application.

What repair and maintenance services do you perform?

2

We perform repairs on NMC and LFP lithium-ion batteries. In 2024 we processed over 90.000 batteries with an 89% repair success rate.

From the batteries we receive, 70% of battery failures are due to mechanical issues, and 16% are firmware-related. Only a few issues are related to single dead battery cells, which we do not replace.

  1. Diagnostics: Failure analysis capacity testing, OCV curves

  2. Structural Repairs: Casings, cosmetic and water ingress issues
Mechanical Repairs: Wiring, fuses, and auxiliary components
Electronic Repairs: BMS repair and cell balancing
Cell Pack Recovery: Deep discharge restoration

  3. Maintenance: to avoid the need for repairs and deep discharge, we offer large-scale charging, and fleet testing to safeguard battery health for fleets.

Note: We do not repair by ‘cell replacement’ as for NOWOS, this does not comply with UN38.3 certificates and creates extra risk.

Is battery repair safe?

Battery repair, particularly as performed by specialists like NOWOS, is managed through rigorous safety standards and certified processes.

  • Certified Processes: NOWOS facilities are designed to operate controlled environments with certified equipment and specialized processes that align with OEM repair standards and European regulations.

  • Safety Protocols: The company enforces harmonized Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and strict battery handling rules across all repair hubs. Each site adheres to strict EU standards.

  • Traceability and Checks: A traceability system ensures consistent safety checks throughout the process. The intake process includes visual and electrical safety checks before any repair pathway is determined.

  • Qualified Team: The team includes former battery designers, safety engineers, and field-service experts who follow standardized and certified procedures.

  • Logistics: Transport is managed using ADR-compliant packaging, certified carriers, and digital tracking to maintain full transparency and compliance from collection to redeployment, which are critical safety considerations for lithium-ion batteries.

The goal of the service is to return diagnosed, maintained, and repaired batteries safely back into service. Due to safety, compliance, and transport requirements for lithium-ion batteries, NOWOS works exclusively with businesses (B2B) through OEMs, fleets, or authorized partners, not directly with consumers.

Note: It is important to look for repair partners who use original components to avoid any safety risks or liability during transport. Please make sure batteries are packaged according to ADR regulations and in proper UN packaging, with guidance from trained professionals.

Transport regulations change yearly, it is important to ask you courrier what the latest recommendations and limitations are.

Why Choose NOWOS?

4

NOWOS is a reliable, fully compliant service provider. We adhere to strict ADR regulations and only repair using original components, according to UN 38.3 lab certificates provided by the batteries.

International presence: we have Repair Hubs in the Netherlands, France, a partner in the UK, and plans to open a hub in Poland (2026) and Germany. We are the only repair group with several hubs, which enables:
- Local Expertise in regulations
- Reduced logistics distances, costs and time for repair
- Options for repair capacity and location for customers with large networks.

We do this while retaining the same quality and protocols for repair, regardless of the hub location.

Our sites follow UN38.3, CE, ADR, and PGS 37-2 standards, with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications expected in 2026.
